About the Role
The Part-time Paralegal role at Distro is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and organized individual to join a dynamic team. As a paralegal, you will be responsible for assisting with intellectual property tasks, billing operations, and account management. This role requires a strong background in paralegal work, bookkeeping, or a related administrative/legal field, as well as excellent English proficiency and the ability to work independently.The role is ideal for candidates who are looking for a part-time opportunity that offers a mix of paralegal responsibilities, bookkeeping support, and U.S. account handling. The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent analytical thinking, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. What You Will Do
- Analyze invention disclosures and assist in drafting claims, drawings, and patent applications
- Review office actions, prior art, and specifications to support response preparation
- Conduct freedom-to-operate searches and analyze patent portfolios
- Prepare and file U.S. trademark applications
- Perform patentability searches and prepare written analysis
- Draft legal correspondence and documentation for patent prosecution
- Support bookkeeping tasks including billing, account updates, and financial documentation
- Manage U.S. client accounts with high accuracy and attention to detail
- Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute ideas for operational efficiency
- Collaborate with the supervising attorney and participate in workflow integration
- Assist with tasks related to patent documentation, billing workflows, renewals, financial accuracy, and U.S. client account management
- Contribute to the development of process improvements and operational efficiency
What We Are Looking For
- 2 years of experience in paralegal, bookkeeping, or a related administrative/legal field
- Paralegal background with potential to transition into bookkeeping responsibilities
- Experience handling U.S. accounts and working with U.S.-based clients
- Knowledge of California law (desirable)
- Strong English proficiency (C1) — excellent writing and reading comprehension
- High attention to detail and accuracy in legal and financial documentation
- Ability to work independently, ask questions when needed, and maintain confidentiality
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
- Familiarity with paralegal software (required or willingness to learn)
- Experience with billing systems, document management tools, or CRM platforms (a plus)
Nice to Have
- Experience with Cleo (preferred)
- Knowledge of intellectual property law and practices
- Certification in paralegal studies or a related field
- Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment
- Proficiency in a second language (desirable)
