About the Role
The Partner Development Manager role at Plaid is a critical position that drives business growth and expansion through strategic partnerships. As a key member of the GTM Partnerships team, you will be responsible for developing and executing a strategic prospecting plan to identify new partners and opportunities in the banking, wealth, and insurance segments. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to navigate complex deal cycles, articulate Plaid's differentiated value proposition, and secure buy-in from key stakeholders.The Partner Development Manager will be aligned with specific revenue segments, in this case, supporting Plaid's banking and wealth partners. This role requires a deep understanding of the fintech industry, GTM partnerships, and business development, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will be expected to represent Plaid as a thought leader at industry events, conferences, and partner meetings, and collaborate with direct sales teams on joint opportunities.
What You Will Do
- Develop and maintain a strategic prospecting plan to identify new partners critical to Plaid's penetration of banking, wealth, and insurance verticals
- Establish and grow relationships with high-potential partners, identify partnership opportunities, and secure buy-in
- Handle the end-to-end deal cycle for all new Banking & Wealth partners, and collaborate with direct B&W AEs and AMs on overlapping direct and partnership opportunities
- Work with the Banking & Wealth partnerships account management team to execute upsell and expansion opportunities across the existing partner base
- Source opportunities and manage long, complex cycles with multiple stakeholders, navigating competitive dynamics and articulating Plaid's differentiated value proposition
- Represent Plaid at industry events, conferences, and partner meetings as a thought leader
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to navigate complex deal cycles and secure buy-in from key stakeholders
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the fintech industry, GTM partnerships, and business development
- Articulate Plaid's value proposition and competitive advantage to partners and stakeholders
- Manage CRM hygiene and produce accurate pipeline reports
What We Are Looking For
- 5-10 years of experience in business development, partnerships, or a related GTM role with demonstrated success signing new partners or closing complex deals
- Fintech or financial services experience is a plus
- Proven track record of sourcing, negotiating, and closing partnership or business development deals
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling partnership proposals and present to senior executives
- Organized and detail-oriented, comfortable managing multiple deal cycles simultaneously
- Ability to represent Plaid as a thought leader at industry events, conferences, and partner meetings
- Collaborative and self-directed, able to partner with direct sales teams on joint opportunities while independently owning the partner deal cycle
- Familiarity with the open banking, financial data, or payments ecosystem is a plus but not required

- Experience working with CRM systems and managing pipeline reports
- Knowledge of the banking, wealth, and insurance segments and their respective ecosystems
- Familiarity with Plaid's products and services
- Certification in business development, partnerships, or a related field
