About the Role

The Partner Development Manager, Financial Connections at Stripe is a critical role that involves driving the company's open banking partnership strategy and executing partnerships with top financial institutions in the US. This position requires a unique blend of deal-making, strategic thinking, and relationship management skills, as you will be working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including Product, Engineering, Legal, Finance, and Risk teams. Your mission will be to grow Stripe's portfolio of partners with the largest banks and credit unions, expanding direct connectivity coverage to ensure consumers have seamless access to their financial data.

As a key member of the Financial Connections team, you will be responsible for sourcing, developing, and managing relationships with Stripe's most critical financial institutions, banking, and ecosystem partners. Your work will have a significant impact on Stripe's merchant and consumer offerings, as you will be building partnerships that drive the expansion of new product initiatives. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to execute high-impact, cross-functional initiatives with these partners, ensuring the long-term success of Stripe's Financial Connections business.

What You Will Do

  • Own a portfolio of partnerships with top financial institutions and drive them through the full partnership lifecycle, from initial outreach to scaled growth on Financial Connections.
  • Leverage deep knowledge of the open banking ecosystem to guide internal cross-functional stakeholders through an evolving business and regulatory landscape.
  • Identify and analyze new partnership opportunities, making recommendations to relevant decision-makers and stakeholders.
  • Negotiate strategic partnership agreements with banks and credit unions, navigating complex legal, compliance, and technical requirements.
  • Develop and maintain executive-level relationships at key financial institutions, partnering with Stripe leadership on strategic long-term objectives.
  • Exhibit an operationally focused mindset, leading teams through complex relationship management activities by setting a clear vision and running tight processes.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to formulate partner strategies that drive tangible and measurable results.
  • Work closely with external partners' executive leadership to grow mutual businesses together over the long term.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies that could impact Stripe's Financial Connections business.

What We Are Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience in partnership development, business development, or a related field, with a focus on financial services or technology.
  • Proven track record of driving growth through strategic partnerships, with a deep understanding of the financial services industry.
  • Strong deal-making and negotiation skills, with the ability to navigate complex partnerships and agreements.
  • Excellent relationship management and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain executive-level relationships.
  • Deep knowledge of the open banking ecosystem, including trends, regulations, and emerging technologies.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, Legal, and Finance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Business, Finance, or Economics.
