About the Role
The Payments Analyst role at Ottimate is a unique opportunity for a skilled professional to become the definitive expert on the company's payment ecosystem data. As a key member of the finance team, you will report directly to the Finance Manager while supporting the VP of Payments. Your primary mission will be to transform raw financial data into actionable insights, driving business growth and informing strategic decisions.The role requires a high degree of rigor and attention to detail, as you will be working with complex, unclean data to build dashboards and forecasts that will dictate Ottimate's resource allocation. You will be expected to take ownership of data discovery, mapping out processes to understand the how and why behind the numbers before building a single chart.

What You Will Do
- Build and maintain PowerBI dashboards to track customer and vendor behaviors, identifying trends that signify churn risk or growth opportunities
- Develop data-driven forecasts for interchange revenue and operational savings to support quarterly business reviews
- Act as an internal consultant to identify high-value areas for resource allocation, such as shifting high-volume check spend to e-payments
- Perform rigorous self-audits and reconciliation to ensure that every figure presented to leadership is 100% accurate and defensible
- Collaborate with the finance team to develop and implement optimization strategies
- Analyze payments complexity, including VCC interchange, ACH, and check processing costs
- Develop and maintain behavioral models to predict customer and vendor behavior
- Prepare executive-level reports and presentations to drive business growth and inform strategic decisions
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, applying this knowledge to improve Ottimate's payment ecosystem
What We Are Looking For
- Expert-level SQL skills, including complex joins and CTEs
- Proficiency in PowerBI and Excel, including advanced modeling
- 4+ years of experience in a Business Intelligence or Financial Analyst role
- Experience presenting complex data insights directly to C-level executives or Department Leads
- Domain knowledge of the US payments industry, including interchange, ACH, and VCC
- A borderline-obsessive attention to detail and a strong analytical mindset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Experience with Python or other programming languages
- Familiarity with AI-powered AP automation platforms
- Knowledge of data visualization best practices and tools
