Job Description

## About the Role The Payroll Specialist Lead role at Remote is a critical position that requires a deep understanding of global payroll operations and a passion for ensuring compliance. As a key member of the Global Payroll Operations Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processing, statutory filing requirements, and exceptions. The role is based in Latvia and will involve working closely with stakeholders across the organization, including Payroll Implementation, Finance, Product, and Engineers. The Payroll Specialist Lead will be responsible for acting as a subject matter expert for the country, managing existing relationships with key stakeholders, and processing full end-to-end payroll in-house. The role will also involve ensuring full data integrity and quality, focusing on KPIs and SLAs, implementing and improving processes, and mentoring and supporting payroll specialists. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, international work environment. They will also be proficient in using software tools like Excel and Google Suite and have a passion for making an impact.

## What You Will Do - Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including statutory filing requirements, exceptions, approvals, payments, and compliance - Act as a subject matter expert for the country, providing guidance and support to stakeholders - Process full end-to-end payroll in-house, ensuring data integrity and quality - Focus on KPIs and SLAs, implementing and improving processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness - Mentor and support payroll specialists, providing training and guidance as needed - Back up regional managers during times of absence, ensuring continuity of payroll operations - Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including those related to payroll and employment - Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization, including Payroll Implementation, Finance, Product, and Engineers - Implement and maintain payroll journals and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness - Identify and mitigate risks, implementing controls to prevent errors and ensure compliance

## What We Are Looking For - 5+ years of experience in payroll operations, preferably in a global or international context - Strong knowledge of payroll best practices and regulations, including those related to employment and taxation - Proficiency in using software tools like Excel and Google Suite, with the ability to learn new systems and technologies - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, international work environment - Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across the organization - Ability to work independently, with a strong sense of initiative and self-motivation - Fluency in English, both written and spoken - Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment, with the ability to work asynchronously and manage multiple priorities

## Nice to Have - Experience with payroll implementation and management, including statutory filing requirements and exceptions - Knowledge of international payroll regulations and best practices, including those related to employment and taxation - Certification in payroll or a related field, such as CIPP or CPP - Experience with automation and AI technologies, including those related to payroll and HR operations - Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to mentor and support team members
