About the Role
The Payroll Tax Lead role at Corteva Agriscience is a critical position that requires a deep understanding of state and federal payroll tax laws, as well as the ability to manage and facilitate the preparation and filing of payroll tax forms. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant tax regulations, identifying opportunities for process improvement, and developing strategic payroll tax planning initiatives. As a key member of the Payroll Department, the Payroll Tax Lead will work closely with payroll, accounting, and leadership teams to drive the successful function of payroll tax processing.The role entails day-to-day management of payroll tax operations, including the preparation and review of federal payroll tax returns, as well as the timely filing of all payroll tax forms. The Payroll Tax Lead will also be responsible for monitoring current and impending changes to tax regulations, making appropriate updates to policies and strategies, and communicating the effects of these developments to management. With a strong focus on collaboration and teamwork, the ideal candidate will be able to work effectively with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement and potential areas of risk.

What You Will Do
- Facilitate and manage the preparation and review of company federal payroll tax returns and the accurate, timely filing of all payroll tax forms
- Ensure accurate, timely filing of other business-related filings
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement in company payroll tax procedures
- Develop and implement strategic payroll tax planning for all necessary federal and state payroll taxes
- Serve as the subject matter expert on payroll tax compliance, advising internal stakeholders on payroll tax implications and regulatory changes
- Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process
- Manage and facilitate federal, state, and local payroll tax audits: preparing responses, creating schedules, etc.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management, and create strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation
- Provide support with various internal audits and special tax-related projects
- Review tax returns and quarterly/yearly tax projections
- Research and resolve payroll-related tax notices
- Oversee tax account registrations, closures, and maintenance across all jurisdictions
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required
- 5+ years of experience in a payroll taxes or public accountant role
- At least 2 years of experience in a tax management role
- Extensive individual/corporate/partnership tax knowledge
- Strong accounting, analytical, and research skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong knowledge of tax code, compliance, and procedures for corporations
- Familiarity with U.S. federal, state, and local reporting requirements
- Strong experience with a variety of tax operations and the ability to drive process improvements
- Strong ability to utilize project management and accounting best practices to organize and prioritize tasks and the tasks of other tax team members
- Ability to work well independently and with stakeholders
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Word, Outlook, Excel, and other software/tools
Nice to Have
- Current CPA license
- Master's degree in an accounting discipline
- Experience with tax management software
- Familiarity with international tax regulations
