About the Role

The Professional and Continuing Education Subject Matter Expert plays a vital role in the development and delivery of non-credit educational content at The Ohio State University. This expert will work under the supervision of the PCE manager and with the support of instructional design staff to create high-quality, engaging courses focused on professional development, personal enrichment, and skill-building. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education, communication, or a related field, with experience in course development and delivery.

The PCE Subject Matter Expert will be part of a team dedicated to providing exceptional educational experiences for adult learners. This team is passionate about creating courses that meet the needs of a diverse range of students, from those looking to enhance their professional skills to those seeking personal enrichment. The role involves designing, developing, and building course content, as well as facilitating synchronous and asynchronous sessions.

What You Will Do

  • Design and develop non-credit educational content focused on professional development, personal enrichment, and skill-building
  • Facilitate synchronous and asynchronous course sessions
  • Prepare instructional materials to support course delivery
  • Provide timely student support and feedback to ensure learning outcomes are met
  • Maintain accurate course records
  • Complete all required training and professional development
  • Collaborate with instructional design staff to ensure high-quality course content
  • Utilize Excel and other software applications to support course development and delivery
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in adult education and instructional design

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in education, communication, community outreach, business administration, or a related discipline
  • 2-4 years of experience in course topic or related field
  • Certification in the area being taught, if applicable
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning theory
  • Experience with online learning platforms and tools
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
