About the Role

As a PCV Bus Driver at Arriva Group, you will be an integral part of the team responsible for connecting communities in and around Hinckley. Your role will entail safely transporting passengers, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring the overall satisfaction of your customers. Day-to-day, you will be working closely with the depot team, reporting to the Depot Manager, and collaborating with other drivers to ensure smooth operations.

What You Will Do

  • Operate buses safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies
  • Provide excellent customer service to all passengers, addressing their queries and concerns professionally
  • Manage ticket sales, handle cash, and operate the onboard ticketing system accurately
  • Conduct pre and post-shift vehicle checks to ensure the bus is in good working condition
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of routes, schedules, and any changes or disruptions
  • Work collaboratively with the depot team to achieve service goals and resolve any issues
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance your skills and knowledge
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and presentation of the vehicle
  • Handle emergencies and unexpected situations calmly and professionally
  • Report any incidents, accidents, or vehicle issues promptly to the management team
  • Engage with the local community, promoting Arriva's services and values

What We Are Looking For

  • A valid PCV licence with no more than 6 penalty points
  • Excellent customer service and people skills
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel for administrative tasks
  • A positive attitude towards continuous learning and development
  • Physical capability to perform the demands of the job, including long hours of driving

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience as a Bus Driver or in a similar role
  • Knowledge of the local area and bus routes
  • Experience with customer service software or ticketing systems
