About the Role
The People & Culture Business Partner plays a critical role in supporting the employee experience at Stio. As the primary HR point of contact for employees and managers, this role is responsible for providing guidance on HR policies, employee relations matters, and workplace concerns. The ideal candidate will have a passion for building trust, fostering a positive work environment, and driving business results through people management. Stio is an omni-channel mountain brand that designs, develops, and sells beautiful, functional, and innovative apparel, footwear, and accessories. With a strong commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, Stio is looking for a like-minded professional to join their team. The People & Culture Business Partner will work closely with the Director of People & Culture and other stakeholders to build a high-performing, inclusive culture that supports the company's mission.What You Will Do
- Serve as the primary HR point of contact for employees and managers, providing guidance on HR policies, employee relations matters, and workplace concerns
- Triage, investigate, and resolve employee relations issues with discretion, consistency, and care
- Partner with the Director of People & Culture on complex investigations, performance matters, and separations
- Manage workers' compensation claims from filing through return-to-work, serving as the primary liaison with the carrier
- Own recruiting operations, including job postings, interview coordination, and offer management
- Deliver a consistent, high-quality onboarding experience that sets new hires up for success from offer acceptance through their first 90 days
- Support managers with performance coaching, documentation, and performance improvement plans
- Facilitate promotions and compensation change communications in partnership with the Director of People & Culture
- Monitor federal and state employment law changes across 25 states and maintain Stio's compliance documentation and handbooks in real time
- Serve as the first responder for policy questions from employees, including wage and hour, leave, and workplace policy
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in HR, preferably in a business partner or generalist role
- Strong knowledge of HR principles, including employment law, employee relations, and talent management
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Experience with HR systems and software, including HRIS, recruiting tools, and performance management systems
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or a related field
Nice to Have
- Experience in a retail or omni-channel environment
- Knowledge of sustainability and social responsibility practices
- Certification in HR, such as SHRM-CP or PHR
- Experience with workers' compensation and leave management
