Job Description

About the Role

The People Operations Analyst role at Vercel is a hands-on, execution-focused position that plays a critical part in the company's HR operations. As a key member of the People team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the HR function, including processing transactions in Workday, working the helpdesk queue, and supporting employees through key lifecycle moments. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently will be essential in this role.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR operations, with experience working in a fast-paced environment and a proven track record of managing multiple priorities. You will be working closely with the People team, Finance, and leadership to ensure seamless operations and support the growth of the company.

Vercel is committed to creating a positive and inclusive work environment, and this role will play a vital part in maintaining that culture. If you are a motivated and detail-oriented individual who is passionate about HR operations, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.

What You Will Do

  • Work the helpdesk: Triage and resolve incoming People Operations tickets in FreshService, answering employee questions on HR policies, processes, and systems.
  • Process transactions in Workday: Enter and maintain accurate employee data across the full lifecycle, including new hires, terminations, job changes, transfers, and more.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding: Coordinate day-one logistics, ensure Workday records are set up correctly, and help employees and managers navigate transitions cleanly.
  • Pull and deliver reports: Run standard and ad hoc reports out of Workday to support the People team, Finance, and leadership.
  • Spot and flag improvements: Identify areas for process improvements and suggest solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the People team: Work closely with the People team to ensure alignment and support on HR initiatives and projects.
  • Maintain data quality: Ensure data accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement process documentation: Create and maintain up-to-date process documentation to support the HR function.
  • Provide exceptional employee experience: Deliver high-quality support to employees, ensuring a positive and seamless experience.

What We Are Looking For

  • 2-4 years of experience in People Operations, HR Shared Services, or a similar operational HR role.
  • Hands-on Workday experience, with the ability to process transactions and run reports.
  • Experience working a helpdesk or ticketing queue, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail, with the ability to catch data errors before they become problems.
  • Clear, professional written communication, with the ability to interact with employees at all levels.
  • Self-directed and organized, with the ability to manage your own queue without needing daily direction.
  • A natural inclination to ask 'why do we do it this way?' and the judgment to know when to act on the answer vs. when to just get the work done.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a keen sense of urgency and prioritize tasks effectively.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with FreshService or similar ticketing systems.
  • Knowledge of HR laws and regulations, with the ability to apply them in a practical context.
  • Certification in HR or a related field, such as SHRM or HRCI.
  • Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment.

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive compensation rate.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development in a rapidly expanding company.
  • Collaborative and dynamic work environment, with a team of experienced professionals.
  • Flexible working hours, with the ability to work from home or remotely.
  • Access to cutting-edge technology and tools, including Workday and FreshService.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Generous PTO policy, with paid holidays and vacation time.

How to Stand Out

  • Tip: Make sure to highlight your experience with Workday and helpdesk software in your application, as these skills are essential for the role.
  • When preparing for the interview, be ready to provide specific examples of times when you identified areas for process improvement and suggested solutions.
  • Show your attention to detail by carefully reviewing the job description and requirements, and be prepared to ask thoughtful questions during the interview.
  • Consider creating a portfolio or samples of your work, such as process documentation or reports, to demonstrate your skills and experience.
  • Be prepared to discuss your experience working in a fast-paced environment and how you prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Research Vercel's company culture and values, and be prepared to discuss how you would contribute to and thrive in that environment.
