About the Role
The People Operations Lead serves as the operational backbone and strategic right hand of the Chief People Officer, owning the infrastructure that makes people programs run while serving as a trusted partner to leaders and employees across every department. This is a company-wide role that lives at the intersection of HR operations, people strategy, and organizational partnership. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and improving systems, processes, and programs that shape the Defense Unicorns employee experience from day one through every milestone that follows.As a key member of the team, the People Operations Lead will navigate complex employee situations with sound judgment, ensuring outcomes are fair, timely, and compliant with applicable laws and regulations. This role requires a high level of trust, visibility, and the ability to drive solutions forward in a fast-paced environment.
The People Operations Lead will work closely with the Chief People Officer and other department leaders to drive people strategy and digital transformation. This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing company and make a meaningful impact on the employee experience.
What You Will Do
- Navigate complex employee situations with sound judgment, ensuring outcomes are fair, timely, and compliant with applicable laws and regulations
- Support managers in building high-performing teams and driving employee engagement
- Develop and implement people programs, policies, and procedures that align with the company's values and goals
- Collaborate with the Chief People Officer and other department leaders to drive people strategy and digital transformation
- Identify gaps in current processes and systems, and develop solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners and vendors to support people operations
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and other financial plans to support people operations
- Analyze data and metrics to inform people operations decisions and drive business outcomes
- Develop and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to promote a positive and inclusive work environment
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in people operations, HR, or a related field
- Strong background in HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, and compliance
- Experience with digital transformation and HR technology, including HRIS systems and other people operations tools
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to navigate complex employee situations with sound judgment and discretion
- Strong analytical and data analysis skills, with the ability to inform people operations decisions with data
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Bachelor's degree in HR, business administration, or a related field

- Experience with people analytics and data visualization tools
- Knowledge of employment law and regulatory compliance

- Certification in HR, such as SHRM-CP or PHR
