About the Role
The Physical Education Teacher position at Stride, Inc. is a unique opportunity for a highly qualified and state-certified educator to deliver specific course content in an online environment. As a key member of the Iowa Virtual Academy team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students, differentiating instruction based on student level of mastery, and maintaining a professional home office without distraction during the workday.The ideal candidate will be passionate about education and committed to personalizing learning for all students. They will have a strong belief in the ability of all students to succeed and meet high expectations, and will be able to demonstrate this through their teaching practices. The role entails working closely with students, parents, and learning coaches to advance each student's learning toward established goals, and to provide support and guidance as needed.

What You Will Do
- Deliver specific course content in an online environment, using a range of teaching methodologies and educational technologies
- Provide instruction, support, and guidance to students, and manage the learning process to ensure that students meet their full potential
- Differentiate instruction based on student level of mastery, to ensure that all students receive a personalized learning experience
- Maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday, and be available to work from home for at least 40 hours per week
- Travel occasionally throughout the year to various school functions, such as state testing or as otherwise required by the school
- Use Stride K12's learning management system to monitor student progress, and to communicate with students, parents, and learning coaches
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests, and provide support and guidance as needed
- Collaborate with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data, and use this data to drive instructional decisions
- Augment course content according to prescribed policies and procedures, using appropriate asynchronous and synchronous tools under guidance from principal and coach
- Maintain grade book ensuring student academic integrity, make student placement and promotion decisions, and alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as education or physical education
- Active state teaching license, with a specialization in physical education
- Ability to clear required background check
- Experience working with the proposed age group, and a strong understanding of the needs and abilities of students in this age range
- Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology, and a strong ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner
- Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment, and a strong understanding of the benefits and challenges of each
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers, and to contribute to a positive and supportive team environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
- Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday, and to work independently with minimal supervision

- Experience with online learning platforms, and a strong understanding of the benefits and challenges of online education
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data, and to use this data to drive instructional decisions
- Experience with Stride K12's learning management system, or a similar system
- Strong ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in writing
- Experience with project-based learning, and a strong understanding of the benefits and challenges of this approach
