About the Role
The Physical Security Systems Engineer plays a vital role in designing, deploying, and sustaining the systems that protect OpenAI's people, facilities, and critical infrastructure across APAC. As a key member of the Physical Security Engineering team, this individual will partner closely with various stakeholders to ensure all environments meet stringent safety, reliability, and compliance requirements. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of security architecture and the ability to work across global office campuses, warehouses, labs, and data centers.The role's primary focus is on the technical ownership of physical security systems, including access control, video surveillance, and supporting infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing, operating, troubleshooting, and improving these systems, as well as a strong understanding of Windows OS, networking, and systems integration. OpenAI's corporate footprint is expanding rapidly across APAC, and the company needs a skilled Physical Security Systems Engineer to ensure that its physical security technology scales with the same level of reliability, consistency, and care. The successful candidate will be responsible for owning day-to-day technical support and administration for physical security systems across APAC, supporting new office buildouts, and troubleshooting complex issues.
What You Will Do
- Own day-to-day technical support and administration for physical security systems across APAC, including access control, video management, and related infrastructure.
- Support new office buildouts by reviewing designs, coordinating vendors, validating system readiness, and ensuring clean operational turnover.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across Genetec, Windows OS/Servers, databases, networking, switching, integrations, and field hardware.
- Partner with IT/NetEng on connectivity, identity, infrastructure, firewall, VLAN, switch configuration, IP schema, routing, and device connectivity dependencies.
- Support integrations between physical security systems and adjacent enterprise systems, including identity, access management, monitoring, and operational workflows.
- Create and maintain drawings, site documentation, operating procedures, and training materials for administrators and end users.
- Help reduce operational toil by improving standards, documentation, monitoring, vendor handoffs, and repeatable support practices.
- Collaborate with regional vendors to ensure that physical security systems are designed, installed, and maintained to the highest standards.
- Develop and implement procedures for incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
- Participate in the development of the company's overall security strategy and architecture.
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in designing, deploying, and operating physical security systems, including access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection.
- Strong technical expertise in Windows OS, networking, and systems integration.
- Experience with security architecture, including the design and implementation of security systems and protocols.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong understanding of IT and security principles, including identity and access management, monitoring, and operational workflows.
- Experience working with vendors and partners to design, install, and maintain physical security systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to travel occasionally for business meetings and site visits.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, engineering, or a related field.

- Experience with cloud-based security systems and services, including Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure.
- Knowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learning principles, with experience in applying these technologies to security systems.
