About the Role

The Platform Engineer role at Marble is a unique opportunity to work on building and scaling the infrastructure that powers the company's AI-powered tax assistant and preparation platform. As a key member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, operating, and improving the entire platform, ensuring that it is reliable, secure, and scalable. You will work closely with the product and data teams to support the development of new features and capabilities, and will play a critical role in shaping the company's data platform and enforcing strong data security practices.

The role requires a deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and SRE principles, as well as experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, and Helm. What You Will Do

  • Build and operate Marble's cloud infrastructure, ensuring that it is reliable, secure, and scalable
  • Design and improve developer tooling and CI/CD pipelines to support faster product development
  • Partner with the product and data teams to support the development of new features and capabilities
  • Implement and enforce best practices around security, especially for sensitive tax data
  • Improve system performance, cost efficiency, and scalability across services
  • Work closely with the engineering team to identify and resolve technical issues
  • Collaborate with the data team to design and implement data pipelines and architectures
  • Ensure that the platform is compliant with relevant regulations and standards
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and diagrams to support knowledge sharing and collaboration

What We Are Looking For

  • Strong experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, and Helm
  • Background in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering roles
  • Comfortable with backend web development using Typescript
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, networking, and system reliability
  • Ability to balance pragmatism with long-term system design
  • Experience with security best practices in regulated or sensitive data environments
  • Familiarity with observability stacks (Grafana, OpenTelemetry, etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience building or supporting data platforms (ETL, orchestration, data infra)
  • Familiarity with AI/ML infrastructure or data pipelines
  • Experience working in fast-paced startups or early-stage companies
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes
