Job Description

About the Role

The Platform Operations Program Manager role is a critical component of Openai's Account & Platform Integrity Operations team. This team is responsible for protecting Openai's ecosystem by ensuring users, developers, partners, and organizations can access and build on the platform safely and responsibly. The successful candidate will partner closely with teams across the Ecosystem organization to design and implement operational systems that enable the platform to scale rapidly without compromising trust, quality, or safety. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing processes that help developers bring apps, plugins, and integrations to market efficiently and effectively. This will involve managing external review partners, policy operations workflows, and providing guidance on quality expectations. The role will also require strong collaboration with Product, Engineering, Policy, Legal, Security, and Developer Experience teams to turn platform goals and requirements into clear, effective operating processes. Given the evolving nature of AI and developer ecosystems, this role requires a professional who can think in systems, identify recurring patterns, and build durable processes that can adapt to changing requirements.

What You Will Do

  • Own the operational processes that help developers bring apps, plugins, and integrations to market, from submission and review through launch, appeals, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Manage external review partners and policy operations workflows, identifying areas where guidance, process, or quality expectations need to improve.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Policy, Legal, Security, Developer Experience, and Go-to-Market teams to design and implement operational systems that enable ecosystem growth while maintaining quality and trust.
  • Lead high-priority partner reviews and escalations, balancing speed to launch with user trust and consistent standards.
  • Create feedback loops across product, policy, tooling, and developer experience teams to reduce friction for developers and improve the quality of integrations over time.
  • Lead automation and AI-driven initiatives to improve the speed, consistency, and scale of review and support processes.
  • Serve as a senior cross-functional partner, using operational expertise and platform insights to help shape product strategy and improve how the ecosystem works.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of operational processes and procedures.
  • Analyze data and metrics to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas where operational efficiency can be enhanced.

What We Are Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience in program management, developer operations, product operations, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of developer platforms, APIs, and related technologies.
  • Experience with operational judgment, balancing speed, safety, and business priorities in decision-making.
  • Ability to bring structure to ambiguous, cross-functional problems and drive alignment across different teams.
  • Experience using AI and automation to reduce manual work, improve quality, and scale operational processes.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into practical guidance for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Deep empathy for developer and partner experience, with a focus on maintaining consistent standards that protect the platform and its users.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with MCP, OAuth, authentication, permissions, and data flows.
  • Knowledge of agentic workflows and their application in operational processes.
  • Familiarity with AI-driven tools and technologies.
  • Certification in project management or a related field.

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunity to work with a leading AI company and contribute to the development of responsible AI ecosystems.
  • Collaborative and dynamic work environment with a team of experienced professionals.
  • Flexible working hours and remote work options.
  • Access to cutting-edge technologies and tools.
  • Professional development opportunities, including training and education support.

How to Stand Out

  • Ensure you have a deep understanding of developer platforms, APIs, and related technologies before applying.
  • Tailor your resume and cover letter to highlight your experience in program management, developer operations, or product operations.
  • Be prepared to provide specific examples of how you have balanced operational judgment with business priorities in previous roles.
  • Develop a portfolio that showcases your ability to design and implement operational systems, preferably in the context of AI or developer ecosystems.
  • Prepare to discuss your experience with AI-driven initiatives and how you have applied them to improve operational efficiency.
  • Research Openai's mission and values to understand how your skills and experience align with the company's goals and to show your enthusiasm for the role during the interview process.
