About the Role

The Platform Systems Architect - Azure role at Leidos is a critical position that requires a deep understanding of cloud and hybrid cloud platforms, as well as the ability to design and implement complex systems. As a key member of the Digital Modernization Sector, this role will support the US Space Force's Space Systems Command in the development and deployment of mission-critical software. The successful candidate will have a strong background in enterprise architecture, systems integration, and hybrid/multi-cloud strategies.

The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include designing and implementing modern, integrated cloud/hybrid cloud platforms that meet current performance and mission objectives. This will involve working closely with multiple teams, including application, enterprise, and environment engineering teams, to ensure alignment with enterprise-level objectives and roadmaps. The role will also require collaboration with stakeholders to understand and translate requirements into detailed architectural designs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cloud platforms, including Azure, as well as cloud-native technologies such as containers, Kubernetes, and serverless computing. They will also have experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools and cloud management practices. A strong background in enterprise architecture, systems integration, and hybrid/multi-cloud strategies is essential.

What You Will Do

  • Design and implement modern, integrated cloud/hybrid cloud platforms that meet current performance and mission objectives
  • Understand multiple components and document the complete architecture of the current cloud/hybrid cloud platform implementation
  • Manage the entire technical baseline, including the environment(s) and applications, providing comprehensive recommendations for improving and optimizing the existing solution
  • Enable successful accomplishment of performance objectives for scalability, reliability, security, resiliency, efficiency, and observability
  • Document architectures, dependencies, interfaces, workflows, and processes for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborate with multiple teams responsible for implementing each component of the cloud/hybrid cloud platform and infrastructure
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand and translate requirements into detailed architectural designs
  • Champion for efficiency, automation, continuous optimization of resources, enhanced platform/cloud services, ensuring seamless interoperability and integration with existing platforms
  • Continuously evaluate and recommend existing and emerging tools, technologies, and practices that enhance the cloud and platform capabilities
  • Monitor and optimize cloud and platform services to ensure high performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency
  • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to proactively adapt and evolve our architectural strategies

What We Are Looking For

  • BS and 12+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10+ years of prior relevant experience
  • Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher certification (e.g., Security+)
  • Familiarity with cloud/hybrid cloud computing platforms and their services within various security domains
  • Familiarity in designing and implementing large-scale, complex systems that integrate cloud and on-premises platforms
  • Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud-native technologies
  • Strong background in enterprise architecture, systems integration, and hybrid/multi-cloud strategies
  • Extensive knowledge of platform services, middleware, and enterprise integration frameworks
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools and cloud management practices
  • Extensive knowledge of cloud security, compliance, and governance
  • Active Cloud Solutions Architect Expert certification
  • US Citizen with an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility (TS/SCI)

Nice to Have

  • Master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, STEM, or IT from an accredited institution
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration using Kubernetes
  • Experience with serverless computing and event-driven architecture
  • Experience with cloud-based data analytics and machine learning platforms
