About the Role
The Postperson with Driving role at Royal Mail is a permanent contract position that involves delivering mail and parcels to the local community. As a representative of Royal Mail, you will be the face of the company, interacting with customers and providing excellent customer service. Your role will be physically demanding, requiring you to walk for long periods and work in various weather conditions. You will be part of a team that plays a crucial role in keeping the community connected, delivering everything from exam results to online purchases.The role entails working 37 hours per week, across 5 days, with varying shifts between 08:00 - 16:40, 09:20 - 18:00, and 11:15 - 19:55. You will also be required to work one in six Sundays, although this may be subject to change based on operational demands. What You Will Do
- Deliver mail and parcels to households and businesses within your designated area
- Ensure all items are handled and delivered securely, in line with Royal Mail's business standards
- Provide excellent customer service, interacting with the public in a friendly and professional manner
- Work efficiently to meet deadlines and complete your delivery route within the allotted time
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and any issues encountered during your route
- Participate in training and development programs to improve your skills and knowledge
- Collaborate with colleagues to achieve team goals and ensure seamless service delivery
- Utilize a company-provided vehicle for deliveries, adhering to all safety and driving regulations
- Adapt to changing weather conditions and navigate through various terrains and environments
What We Are Looking For
- A full UK manual driving license with no more than 6 penalty points
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent customer service skills and a friendly demeanor
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to lift and carry mail bags weighing up to 16kg
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions and to walk for long periods
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel for Potential future needs
- Ability to adjust to new situations and challenges
- A strong sense of community and pride in your work
- Ability to securely handle and deliver sensitive items, such as election materials and certain products
Nice to Have
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role or in delivery services
- Knowledge of the local area and its residents
