What You Will Do
- Initiate and facilitate the pre-determination process for medical services
- Contact insurance companies for benefit verification and pre-certification of procedures
- Maintain daily surgery and procedure schedules for department faculty
- Ensure open communication with physicians and their assistants regarding their schedules
- Supply required documentation to insurance companies during the pre-certification process
- Maintain a written log of all pre-certifications in process
- Notify the hospital utilization/billing department of pre-certification
- Document pre-certification receipts from insurance companies
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
What We Are Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent certification
- At least 2 years of experience in a medical office setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Proficiency in using office equipment and software
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and insurance practices
- Ability to work in a remote setting with minimal supervision
Nice to Have
- Associate degree or some college education
- RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) and/or CPC (Certified Professional Coder) certification
- Coding experience and knowledge of medical billing processes
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
