About the Role
The Prime Sales Trader position is a critical component of Coinbase's Institutional Prime Trading team, focusing on delivering best-in-class execution and liquidity solutions to sophisticated institutional clients. This role requires a deep understanding of clients' liquidity needs and the ability to proactively identify opportunities for high-touch and low-touch execution services. As a Prime Sales Trader, you will work closely with the Sales, Financing, and Account Management teams to identify, onboard, and monetize new client relationships, while also providing real-time support for execution and market color.The Institutional Prime Trading team is responsible for growing one of Coinbase's most strategically important businesses, and as a Prime Sales Trader, you will play a key role in driving trading volume, deepening counterparty relationships, and shaping the client experience across spot and derivatives markets. You will be expected to maintain a real-time pulse on market sentiment, trading activity, and client positioning, keeping relevant internal teams informed to support strategic decision-making.
What You Will Do
- Drive increased trading volume by understanding clients' liquidity needs and proactively identifying opportunities for high-touch and low-touch execution services
- Build and maintain trusted counterparty relationships through quality execution, daily market updates, and consistent, high-quality service delivery
- Partner with Sales, Financing, and Account Management teams to identify, onboard, and monetize new client relationships
- Provide structured feedback from clients and the broader marketplace to institutional Product Managers, guiding new product development
- Maintain a real-time pulse on market sentiment, trading activity, and client positioning, keeping relevant internal teams informed
- Drive business growth by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of clients' trading strategies and objectives
- Provide market commentary and insights to clients and internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement trading strategies
- Stay up-to-date with market trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments
What We Are Looking For
- 3+ years of sales and/or trading experience in digital assets, FX, equities, credit, or derivatives at a top-tier institution
- Strong options trading capability, including pricing, hedging, and risk-managing vanilla and/or exotic structures
- Proven ability to build and maintain counterparty relationships with institutional clients
- Experience producing institutional-grade market commentary or client communications
- Weekend availability required, with the ability to work a schedule that includes Saturday and Sunday as working days
- Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
Nice to Have
- Experience working with digital assets, such as cryptocurrency or blockchain technology
- Knowledge of trading platforms, such as Bloomberg or Reuters
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI
- Certification in a relevant field, such as the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
