About the Role
As a Principal 3D Character Artist at Eleventh Hour Games, you will play a crucial role in shaping the visual identity of the company's games. You will be responsible for driving the vision, quality, and execution of character art, working closely with the art direction team to create compelling and production-ready characters. The role entails collaborating with concept, animation, design, and technical art teams to ensure that characters are tightly integrated with gameplay systems.The character art team at Eleventh Hour Games is a close-knit group of professionals who value open communication and teamwork. As a Principal 3D Character Artist, you will be expected to set the bar for character quality across heroes, enemies, NPCs, and gear-driven visual identity. You will also serve as a key creative partner to the Art Director, providing input on the overall artistic direction of the game.
The day-to-day responsibilities of the role will include creating high-quality character models, textures, and animations, as well as developing and implementing character pipelines and workflows. You will also be responsible for mentoring junior artists and providing feedback on their work.
What You Will Do
- Create high-quality character models, textures, and animations for use in the game
- Develop and implement character pipelines and workflows to ensure efficient production
- Collaborate with concept, animation, design, and technical art teams to create compelling characters
- Set the bar for character quality across heroes, enemies, NPCs, and gear-driven visual identity
- Provide input on the overall artistic direction of the game
- Mentor junior artists and provide feedback on their work
- Develop and maintain character art style guides and documentation
- Work closely with the art direction team to ensure consistency in character art
- Participate in character art reviews and provide constructive feedback
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies, applying this knowledge to improve character art quality
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in character art, with a focus on 3D modeling and texturing
- Advanced real-time character creation skills, with experience in tools such as Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender
- Strong understanding of character pipeline and workflow development
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams
- Ability to set the bar for character quality and drive the vision and execution of character art
- Strong artistic craft, with a portfolio that demonstrates high-quality character art
- Experience with game development pipelines and workflows
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results
Nice to Have
- Experience with game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or C#
