Job Description

About the Role

The Principal Architect role at Kinatico is a unique opportunity to lead the technical design across the company's full product suite, including customer-facing SaaS products and internal systems. As the single technical design authority, you will own the architecture from discovery through to delivery, ensuring that designs are secure, scalable, and meet the needs of the business. You will work closely with the CPO and Head of Engineering to shape the company's technical vision and strategy.

What You Will Do

  • Own the technical design across Kinatico's full product suite, translating product requirements into concrete, buildable technical specifications
  • Develop architecture diagrams, API specifications, and data models that serve as the source of truth for engineering builds
  • Engage with product teams during discovery to assess feasibility and provide technical guidance
  • Maintain architecture decision records and design documents as living source-of-truth artefacts
  • Ensure designs are secure by default, following ISO 27001, OWASP, and privacy-by-design principles
  • Contribute to engineering standards, run design reviews, and build technical design literacy across the engineering team
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet business needs
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to continuously improve Kinatico's technical capabilities
  • Actively participate in the design and implementation of AI-powered features, including LLM APIs, embedding models, and AI agents
  • Balance technical quality with delivery reality, making pragmatic decisions that meet business needs

What We Are Looking For

  • Deep data architecture expertise, including data standards, schema design, data modelling, data flows, and governance at platform scale
  • 6+ years of engineering experience, with at least 2 years in solution architecture or principal-level design at commercial SaaS scale
  • Strong AWS expertise across cloud-native architecture and microservices
  • Proficiency in C# and .NET or Python in a commercial product context
  • Practical AI fluency, including experience with LLMs, embedding models, and RAG patterns
  • Secure-by-design instincts, with knowledge of OWASP, ISO 27001, and privacy-by-design principles
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with experience in guiding engineering teams

Nice to Have

  • Experience with containerised workloads and infrastructure-as-code
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools, such as Jenkins, Docker, or Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban
  • Experience with cloud-based data warehousing and analytics platforms, such as Snowflake or AWS Redshift
