About the Role

The Principal Data Engineer role at Waymark is a mission-critical position that combines the technical acumen of a seasoned backend engineer with the specialized expertise of someone well-versed in Electronic Health Record (EHR) data integration. As a principal-level individual contributor, this role involves leading the technical direction for the clinical data platform. This includes setting the strategy for how EHR data is integrated, normalized, and transformed to support care teams and drive better healthcare delivery. The successful candidate will report to the data engineering leadership and will be instrumental in ensuring that the data pipelines are not only architecturally sound but also optimized for performance and scalability.

What You Will Do

  • Architect production-grade data pipelines that integrate clinical data from diverse EHR systems and payer networks
  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of data pipelines to ingest, normalize, and transform clinical data
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data quality and integrity
  • Develop and maintain documentation for data pipelines and architectures
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare data regulations and standards
  • Participate in the development of the overall data strategy and roadmap
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of the data engineering team
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering and healthcare
  • Collaborate with data scientists to integrate ML models into the data pipelines

What We Are Looking For

  • Deep expertise in backend engineering, with a focus on data pipeline development and architecture
