About the Role
The Principal Presales Engineer is a critical part of Twilio's sales team, focused on new business and strategic segments. This role entails leading technical pre-sales relationships, driving technical discovery, proposing technical architectures, and demonstrating products to customers. As a Principal Presales Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering technical wins and ensuring the best product fit for customers. You will work closely with account executives to execute pre-sales activities, including opportunity qualification, demonstrations, and proof-of-concepts.The successful candidate will be comfortable engaging with CEOs and technical stakeholders, as well as sketching out API flows on a whiteboard. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, creative problem-solving skills, and strong communication abilities. What You Will Do
- Partner with account executives to execute pre-sales activities, including opportunity qualification, demonstrations, and proof-of-concepts
- Lead technical pre-sales relationships, driving technical discovery and proposing technical architectures
- Deliver technical wins and ensure the best product fit for customers
- Demonstrate products to customers and build trust in Twilio's solutions
- Establish yourself as a trusted advisor to customers, taking the lead on understanding technical pains and designing innovative solutions
- Build and present highly interactive, complex, and engaging customer product demonstrations
- Be hands-on, high-energy, passionate, and a creative problem solver
- Take the initiative to identify and solve problems, both for customers and within the organization
- Contribute to the broader Twilio presales engineering community through knowledge sharing and constructing demonstration materials
- Mentor less experienced presales engineers
What We Are Looking For
- Strong technical expertise in communications technology, including APIs and software development
- Experience in presales engineering, technical sales, or a related field
- Proven track record of driving technical sales and solutions
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and outside the box
- Experience working with customers to understand their technical pains and design innovative solutions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong collaboration and team player skills, with the ability to work closely with account executives and other stakeholders
- Fluency in German, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Nice to Have
- Experience working with cloud communication platforms, such as Twilio
- Knowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies
