Job Description

About the Role

As a Principal Product Manager at Netlify, you will be responsible for driving the growth of the company's self-serve funnel, from activation to retention. This is a critical role that will have a direct impact on the company's revenue and expansion. You will be working closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Data, Design, GTM, and Finance, to shape the company's growth strategy and make data-driven decisions.

The self-serve funnel is a complex system that requires a deep understanding of the customer journey, from the initial sign-up to the conversion of a paying customer. You will be tasked with identifying areas of improvement and developing strategies to optimize the funnel, increasing activation, conversion, and retention rates. Your work will have a direct impact on the company's bottom line, and you will be expected to drive business outcomes through your decisions.

You will be reporting into the Product team and will have the opportunity to partner with executives to shape the company's overall strategy. This is a unique chance to join a fast-moving company and help define new practices, operating models, and ways of working around a new mandate.

What You Will Do

  • Own Netlify's self-serve funnel as one product and one number: net-new self-serve ARR, counting new revenue plus expansion minus contraction and churn
  • Build the measurement foundation the funnel runs on, including attribution, event taxonomy, and cohorting
  • Stand up an experimentation practice and run it, shipping experiments early and building the team's experimentation muscle
  • Raise activation by defining the early milestones that predict a paying account and measuring time-to-value
  • Grow conversion by owning every paid conversion path and understanding the drivers behind each one
  • Build a self-serve expansion motion by creating clear paths for customers to expand usage and defining the signals that indicate an account ready to grow
  • Partner with GTM on the handoff from product-qualified accounts to sales, so the product-led and sales-led motions reinforce each other
  • Set the funnel roadmap and articulate the strategy to executives
  • Develop other PMs as the growth practice grows around you
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape the company's growth strategy and make data-driven decisions

What We Are Looking For

  • 7+ years in product management, including experience owning a self-serve or PLG funnel end to end for a developer-focused, usage-priced, or consumption-priced product
  • Growth PM expertise, including designing experiments, running a robust experimentation practice, owning business outcomes, and using product analytics to inform decisions
  • Fluency with funnel instrumentation: attribution, event taxonomy, cohorting, and the ability to shape and improve measurement
  • Command of in-product monetization mechanics: paywalls, free-to-paid flows, upgrade and buy-more paths, and credit or usage economics
  • A record of driving measurable business outcomes, not just shipping features
  • Cross-functional leadership with Data, Design, Engineering, GTM, and Finance, and the credibility to operate alongside executives and shape company-level strategy
  • Comfort building in a fast-moving environment where you help define new practices, operating models, and ways of working around a new mandate

Nice to Have

  • Experience with an AI, agent, or inference funnel
  • Exposure to PLG-to-enterprise growth motions
  • Product work on viral or referral loops, or experience standing up an experimentation platform from scratch

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive salary and equity package
  • Opportunity to work with a fast-moving company and help define new practices and operating models
  • Collaborative and dynamic work environment
  • Flexible working hours and remote work options
  • Access to the latest tools and technologies
  • Professional development and growth opportunities

How to Stand Out

  • Be prepared to provide specific examples of your experience with growth and expansion strategies, and how you have driven business outcomes in previous roles.
  • Make sure to highlight your skills in data analysis and interpretation, as well as your ability to communicate complex ideas to cross-functional teams.
  • Showcase your experience with experimentation and A/B testing, and be prepared to discuss your approach to measuring the success of experiments.
  • Emphasize your ability to work in a fast-moving environment and adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
  • Be prepared to discuss your experience with product-led growth and your understanding of the customer journey.
  • Highlight your skills in leadership and collaboration, and be prepared to discuss your experience working with cross-functional teams.
