About the Role

The Principal Product Manager will play a key role in driving Oportun's lending platform forward, focusing on partnerships and marketing capabilities. This leadership position requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record of successfully managing product launches and growth initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of customer needs, market trends, and the ability to articulate a clear product vision.

As a Principal Product Manager, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including business, marketing, and risk management, to develop and execute product strategies that drive business growth and customer engagement. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include collaborating with stakeholders to define product requirements, prioritizing features, and overseeing the development and launch of new products.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and execute product strategies that drive business growth and customer engagement
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product requirements and prioritize features
  • Oversee the development and launch of new products, ensuring alignment with company goals and customer needs
  • Conduct customer research and analysis to inform product decisions and identify areas for improvement
  • Work closely with stakeholders to define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics
  • Develop and manage product roadmaps, ensuring alignment with company objectives and customer needs
  • Collaborate with risk management and compliance teams to ensure products adhere to regulatory requirements
  • Communicate product plans and progress to stakeholders, including executive leadership and external partners
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues, developing contingency plans as needed
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to inform product decisions

What We Are Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on fintech or related industries
  • Proven track record of successfully launching and growing products, with a emphasis on customer-centric design
  • Strong understanding of customer needs, market trends, and competitor analysis
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in data-driven decision making
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and product management tools (e.g. Jira, Asana)
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. computer science, business administration), or equivalent experience

Nice to Have

  • Experience with machine learning or artificial intelligence applications in product development
  • Knowledge of cloud-based technologies and infrastructure (e.g. AWS, Azure)
  • Familiarity with design thinking and human-centered design principles
