About the Role
Twilio is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to drive growth and innovation in the company's next-generation platform. This role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, Engineers, Designers, GTM, and Developer Evangelism, to deliver high-quality, solution-oriented code and provide technical expertise. As a hands-on, customer-facing technical expert, the successful candidate will be responsible for demonstrating the power of Twilio's platform and providing hands-on feedback to shape the company's product development.The Principal Software Engineer will be embedded within the Product organization and will play a critical role in driving the company's growth strategy. This will involve collaborating with stakeholders to identify opportunities for growth, developing and delivering technical solutions, and working with the GTM team to bring products to market. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

What You Will Do
- Design and deliver high-quality, solution-oriented code, including quickstart repos, “Hello World” POCs, and demos, that serve as inspiration and a model for builders to adopt.
- Collaborate directly with Product Managers, Engineers, Designers, GTM, and Developer Evangelism to deliver code and provide technical expertise.
- Provide hands-on feedback in the earliest stages of product development, yielding signals that will directly impact the trajectory of what and how Twilio builds.
- Build brand trust and authority by delivering high-impact conference talks, producing technical deep-dives and blogs, and contributing to open source projects that demonstrate the product's value to the broader developer ecosystem.
- Actively partner with PMs, GTM, and Engineering teams to provide actionable feedback on technical and product direction, user experience, pain points, and systemic challenges.
- Help assemble complex Twilio products into cohesive solution blueprints.
- Translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences, including product managers, executives, non-technical stakeholders, and community members.
- Work closely with Solution Engineers, Developer Evangelists, and Customers to help them understand how to assemble Twilio products for agentic and non-agentic applications.
- Drive growth and innovation in Twilio's next-generation platform, focusing on customer-facing collaborations and technical expertise.
What We Are Looking For
- 10+ years of experience in software development, with a strong technical background in programming languages, such as Java, Python, or C++.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong experience with GTM and Excel, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and develop insights that inform product development.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, Engineers, Designers, and GTM.
- Strong understanding of cloud-based technologies, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with open source projects and contributing to the broader developer ecosystem.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop creative solutions.
- Experience working in a remote-first environment, with the ability to work effectively in a distributed team.

- Experience working with Twilio's platform and APIs.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
- Experience working with data analytics and visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI.
