The role involves working closely with internal partners across FinTech, Product, Fraud, Legal, and other departments, as well as with external partners at Booking Holdings Inc., Booking Holdings Financial Services, and sister brands. This collaborative environment means that the Principal Specialist Counsel must be an excellent communicator and team player, able to provide counsel and support to various stakeholders.

What You Will Do

• Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures to prevent financial crimes and ensure regulatory adherence.
• Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify potential vulnerabilities in the company's systems and processes.
• Collaborate with the legal team to provide counsel on compliance matters and ensure that business practices are aligned with regulatory requirements.
• Work with the FinTech team to develop and implement technology solutions that support compliance efforts.
• Provide training and awareness programs to employees on financial crime and compliance issues.
• Monitor and analyze regulatory changes and updates, advising the company on necessary actions to ensure compliance.
• Manage relationships with external partners and regulatory bodies, ensuring smooth communication and cooperation.
• Participate in the development of the company's compliance strategy, aligning it with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in financial crime and compliance, applying this knowledge to improve the company's compliance posture.

What We Are Looking For

• A law degree and significant experience in a compliance or legal role, preferably in the financial or travel industry.
• Strong knowledge of financial regulations and compliance laws, including anti-money laundering and sanctions regulations.
• Experience in risk management and audit processes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with teams and stakeholders at all levels.
• Proficiency in digital tools and technologies that support compliance efforts.
• A proactive and innovative approach to compliance, with a focus on finding solutions that meet business needs while ensuring regulatory adherence.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex regulatory information.
