Job Description

About the Role

The Principal Systems Engineer will play a critical role in supporting Flex's growth by developing and maintaining strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders. This position will involve collaborating with senior engineering and architecture roles to understand customer needs and develop tailored solutions. As a key member of the team, the Principal Systems Engineer will work closely with the Sales and FAE teams to coordinate customer activities and drive business growth.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, with experience in systems engineering, technical marketing, or architecture. They will be able to articulate complex technical concepts to both internal and external stakeholders and drive the development of technology roadmaps. This role will require strong communication and leadership skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

The Principal Systems Engineer will be reporting to the Director, Field Applications, and will be responsible for developing and maintaining external and internal stakeholder relationships. They will also be expected to lead complex conversations with customers to understand requirements and articulate design possibilities.

What You Will Do

  • Interface with external stakeholders, including senior engineering and architecture roles, to understand customer needs and develop tailored solutions
  • Develop and maintain external and internal stakeholder relationships, including those with the Sales and FAE teams
  • Lead complex conversations with customers to understand requirements and articulate design possibilities
  • Work closely with the Sales and FAE teams to coordinate customer activities and drive business growth
  • Develop technology roadmaps for customers and present them internally
  • Co-develop technology roadmaps for Flex and present them to customers
  • Help define new products with customer requirements and new technology knowledge
  • Travel to customer sites for in-person discussions on technology and products (20-40% of the time)
  • Travel to tradeshows and other company events to represent Flex technologies
  • Work with all parties involved, including ODMs, to create and maintain clarity on customer needs and technical requirements

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • 8+ years of experience in technical marketing, architecture, applications, design, or systems engineering of DC/DC converters
  • Good understanding of the DC/DC conversion market and design considerations
  • Experience interfacing with engineering management at Tier 1 customers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Experience with technology roadmapping and development
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Experience with Flex technologies and products
  • Knowledge of engineering management principles and practices
  • Experience with customer-facing roles and sales teams
  • Strong understanding of the electronics industry and market trends
