About the Role

The Principal Technology Strategist for Lab Systems plays a critical role in defining the architectural vision and technical strategy for Natera's laboratory systems. This includes overseeing the development and integration of informatics platforms that power the company's global clinical laboratories. As a senior leader, this role requires a deep understanding of laboratory operations, software development, and technical integration.

The Principal Technology Strategist will work closely with various teams, including Lab Operations, Product Engineering, and Commercial leadership, to ensure seamless technical integration and operational excellence. This role is responsible for establishing a culture of innovation and technical excellence, fostering collaboration, and driving strategic decision-making.

The Principal Technology Strategist will be instrumental in shaping the technical direction of these systems, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and aligned with the company's strategic objectives.

What You Will Do

  • Define the architectural vision and technical strategy for laboratory systems, including informatics platforms and software ecosystems.
  • Develop and implement a unified orchestration layer to standardize sample workflow and reduce manual touchpoints.
  • Collaborate with Lab Operations to identify automation opportunities and integrate software and robotics for maximum throughput.
  • Lead the modernization of workflow orchestration, moving away from static, hard-coded paths toward dynamic, metadata-driven engines.
  • Design and implement the 'Digital Bridge' between Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS) and commercial platforms, ensuring robust bi-directional data flow.
  • Develop technical strategies for 'Order Triage,' ensuring complex clinical orders are validated and routed correctly.
  • Lead deep-dive technical evaluations of third-party LIMS, Middleware, and RCM integration engines.
  • Act as the lead technical advisor to the SVP and mentor to the engineering organization, fostering a culture of 'Systems Thinking.'
  • Bridge the gap between the 'Physical Lab' and 'Digital Software,' ensuring architectural decisions account for clinical scale and regulatory rigor.

What We Are Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise software architecture, with a focus on laboratory systems and informatics platforms.
  • Strong technical leadership and strategic planning skills, with the ability to drive innovation and collaboration.
  • Experience with software development, integration, and deployment, including cloud-based technologies.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory operations, workflow orchestration, and sample management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
