About the Role
The Principal, Visual Design position at Dept is a pivotal role that requires a blend of creative vision, technical expertise, and leadership skills. As a member of the creative leadership team, you will be responsible for driving the visual design strategy across multiple projects and teams. This involves not only meeting client needs but also pushing the boundaries of what is possible in digital design. What You Will Do
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to drive visual design excellence across all projects.
- Lead and mentor the creative team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Develop and implement visual design strategies that meet client needs and exceed expectations.
- Define and maintain high visual and conceptual standards for all design efforts, including websites, branding, UX, and content.
- Generate strategic insights and moodboards to facilitate creative innovation and problem-solving.
- Drive complex digital projects from inception to completion, ensuring deliverables meet the highest standards of quality, are within budget, and meet deadlines.
- Establish project direction, craft guidelines, and assist with production as needed to ensure seamless execution.
- Identify and leverage key relationships with client decision-makers, using excellent interpersonal skills to grow and maintain these relationships.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the design discipline through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and proposing new ideas and processes.
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of proven experience in design and interactive work for leading brands, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Visual Arts, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Mastery of design tools such as Figma, including components, variants, and auto layout.
- Familiarity with essential collaboration tools like HubSpot, Google Suite, and Slack.
- Strong knowledge and experience in visual design, user-centered experience design, interaction design, and brand development.
- Experience in developing and maintaining a robust design system.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Nice to Have
- Experience with adjust and Excel for data analysis and insights.
- Knowledge of web development principles and technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Certification in design thinking, UX design, or a related field.
- Experience working with global teams and clients.
