About the Role

As a Privacy Principal Counsel at Agoda, you will play a critical role in shaping the company's approach to data privacy and compliance. You will work closely with colleagues across the organization, including product, engineering, and commercial teams, to ensure that Agoda's products and services meet the highest standards of data protection. What You Will Do

  • Provide expert counsel on data privacy matters, including compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Develop and implement comprehensive compliance programs to ensure Agoda's operations align with regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including product, engineering, and commercial teams, to ensure that data privacy considerations are integrated into product development and business operations
  • Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, customers, and partners
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and developments in data privacy and compliance, applying this knowledge to drive business growth and maintain competitive advantage
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on data privacy and compliance matters
  • Manage and respond to data subject requests, complaints, and other inquiries related to data privacy
  • Collaborate with external counsel and other experts as needed to ensure that Agoda's data privacy and compliance programs are best-in-class

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Law or a related field, with a strong academic record
  • At least 8 years of experience in data privacy and compliance, with a focus on the travel or technology industries
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective compliance programs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a strong ability to adapt to changing circumstances

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with cloud-based technologies and data analytics platforms
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and DevOps practices
  • Certification in data privacy or compliance, such as CIPP or CCEP
  • Experience working in a global organization, with a strong understanding of cultural and regulatory nuances
