About the Role
The Product Design Manager position at Plaid is a unique opportunity to lead a team of talented designers and shape the direction of the company's products. As a key member of the Dashboard team, you will be responsible for crafting delightful and easy-to-use experiences for customers and partners. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include coaching individual contributors, driving high-quality design execution, and collaborating with product and engineering teams to develop product strategy.The Dashboard team is focused on shipping experiences that elevate the UX quality of Plaid's Dashboard, a critical surface area for customers and data partners. As a design leader, you will be expected to inspire and motivate your team to produce high-quality work that pushes the experience forward. You will also work closely with design, product, and engineering leaders to craft compelling narratives, strategies, and inspiring demos.
Plaid's design team is made up of product designers, researchers, and content strategists who work together to create Plaid's products. What You Will Do
- Lead a team of product designers and a researcher to deliver high-quality design solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product and engineering, to develop product strategy
- Coach individual contributors to grow and develop their skills
- Drive high-quality design execution and elevate the UX quality of Plaid's Dashboard
- Work on complex, ambiguous problems and large-scale redesigns
- Produce high-quality work that inspires others and raises the quality bar
- Partner with product and engineering leads to develop product strategy
- Manage and prioritize your own work independently to maximize your impact
- Contribute to the design culture through collaboration and leadership
- Help craft compelling narratives, strategies, and inspiring demos
- Work closely with design, product, and engineering leaders to shape direction and outcomes
What We Are Looking For
- 8+ years of product design experience
- 3+ years of product design management experience
- A portfolio demonstrating outstanding visual design, interaction design, problem-solving, and prototyping skills
- Experience leading large-scale redesigns or net new products
- Experience working on ambiguous problems and complex B2B applications
- Experience managing a team of product designers to produce great work at scale
- Outstanding communication, storytelling, and facilitation skills
- Ability to bring people together and build a shared understanding
- Proactive, organized, curious, and pragmatic approach to work
- Ability to prioritize your own work independently to maximize your impact
Nice to Have
- Experience working in the fintech industry
- Knowledge of design systems and their application
- Experience with design tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe Creative Cloud
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies
