Job Description

About the Role

As a Product Designer at Autopilot, you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of fintech. Your primary focus will be on designing end-to-end product experiences that redefine what great UX means in a complex, data-driven industry. You will be part of a fast-moving team that values speed, craft, and autonomy, working closely with engineers to build modern, data-intensive web applications.

The role of a Product Designer at Autopilot is not just about designing screens; it's about designing how fintech works. You will have the autonomy to own product experiences and collaborate with a team that is passionate about building smarter infrastructure for commerce. Your work will have a direct impact on digital businesses, optimizing their cost and revenue through AI-native solutions.

What You Will Do

  • Translate complex financial logic and backend systems into intuitive user flows that simplify the user experience.
  • Design dashboards, workflows, and visual systems for payments, orchestration, and automation, ensuring a seamless user journey.
  • Build and maintain a scalable design system in Figma, aligned with React components, to ensure consistency across the product.
  • Collaborate with engineers on real-world UX states, including success, failure, pending, and retry, to ensure a robust and user-friendly product.
  • Prototype and validate features with real data and user context to inform design decisions.
  • Participate in product discussions, shaping user journeys before pixels are drawn, to ensure a user-centered approach.
  • Uphold usability and domain accuracy as the standard for design quality, striving for excellence in every design decision.
  • Develop and maintain design documentation to ensure clarity and consistency across the team.
  • Conduct design reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience designing digital products with complex logic, preferably in fintech, B2B SaaS, or data-heavy systems.
  • Strong product and systems thinking, with the ability to design for states and workflows, not just screens.
  • Deep Figma expertise, including Auto Layout, Variants, Tokens, and Components.
  • Ability to translate backend logic, APIs, and data models into coherent user experiences.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with experience using tools like Linear, Figma, and Slack.
  • Comfortable working directly with engineers and iterating quickly without handoffs.
  • Strong understanding of design principles and human-centered design methodologies.
  • Experience with design-to-code workflows and understanding of React component parity and tokens.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in fintech, payments, or compliance-related products, with a deep understanding of the industry's unique challenges.
  • Exposure to analytics or developer tooling, with the ability to integrate data-driven insights into design decisions.
  • Strong interaction or motion design craft, with experience using tools like Framer or ProtoPie.
  • Knowledge of accessibility principles and how to design inclusive products.

Benefits and Perks

  • The opportunity to work on a high-impact product that is revolutionizing the fintech industry.
  • A competitive compensation package, including equity options.
  • Flexible working hours and remote work arrangement, allowing you to work from anywhere.
  • A comprehensive health insurance package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • A generous parental leave policy, supporting you and your family.
  • Access to professional development opportunities, including workshops, conferences, and online courses.
  • A monthly stipend for home office setup and maintenance, ensuring you have the tools you need to succeed.

How to Stand Out

  • Ensure your portfolio showcases your ability to design complex systems and translate financial logic into user-friendly interfaces.
  • Practice your collaboration skills, as working closely with engineers is a key aspect of this role.
  • Familiarize yourself with Figma and its advanced features, such as Auto Layout and Tokens, to stand out in your application.
  • Prepare to discuss your design decisions and the rationale behind them, as this will be a key part of the interview process.
  • Be ready to provide specific examples of how you've handled design challenges in the past, and how you've worked with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems.
  • Highlight your understanding of fintech and your ability to design with a user-centered approach, keeping in mind the unique challenges of the industry.
  • Don't be afraid to ask questions during the interview process, especially about the company culture and the team you'll be working with.
