About the Role
The Product Director, Common Voice is a critical role at Mozilla, responsible for the overall success of the Common Voice project. This project aims to make it possible for speakers of the world's 7000+ languages to be represented in AI training sets, promoting diversity and inclusion in AI development. As a Product Director, you will be responsible for defining the product vision, roadmap, and long-term direction of the project, ensuring its trustworthiness, inclusivity, and sustainability.The Common Voice project is part of the Tech Platforms team, which stewards and evolves shared technology platforms that power Mozilla Foundation programs. The team collaborates closely with contributors, researchers, and partners across regions and languages to ensure the platform remains effective, secure, and scalable. The Product Director will work closely with the Tech Platforms team, as well as other stakeholders, to drive the project's success.
The role of the Product Director is to provide strategic leadership, overseeing the development of the product roadmap, and ensuring the project's alignment with Mozilla's overall mission and goals. This includes collaborating with cross-functional teams, such as engineering, community engagement, and data stewardship, to drive the project forward.
What You Will Do
- Deliver the 2026 maintenance+ roadmap, ensuring platform stability, reliability, security, and progress on critical technical debt
- Define and track success metrics aligned to 2026 goals and Tech Platforms objectives
- Lead development of a proposed 2027+ product roadmap, including growth scenarios, resourcing implications, and strategic tradeoffs
- Support the Common Voice project in funding proposals and partnership discussions as needed
- Take on interim community manager responsibilities while the Common Voice team is re-scoped and shaped
- Ensure continuity, trust, and responsiveness for the Mozilla Common Voice community during the transition period
- Oversee community communications, contributor engagement, and language onboarding processes within resourcing constraints
- Set clear goals, priorities, and expectations for engineering contributors in alignment with product objectives
- Collaborate with the Tech Platforms team to ensure the project's technical debt is addressed and the platform remains scalable
What We Are Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on AI, machine learning, or related fields
- Proven track record of developing and executing product roadmaps and strategies
- Strong technical skills, with experience in data analysis and interpretation
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Experience in community engagement and management, with a focus on diversity and inclusion
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems
