Product Engineer, Frontend - B2B Applications

## About the Role Openai is seeking an experienced Frontend Product Engineer to join their team in San Francisco. As a key member of the product engineering team, you will be responsible for crafting user interfaces that make advanced AI accessible and intuitive. You will work closely with designers, product managers, and researchers to build responsive, performant, and secure web applications that bring Openai's models and enterprise-facing products to life. The successful candidate will have a strong background in building production web applications at scale, with a focus on design fidelity, performance, and accessibility. You will be collaborating with a talented team of engineers, designers, and researchers to drive the development of Openai's products. Openai's hybrid work model allows for 3 days of in-office work per week, with relocation assistance available to new employees.

## What You Will Do - Build and maintain scalable web applications using modern JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and related technologies - Create reusable UI components and front-end infrastructure to accelerate product development - Optimize client performance and ensure accessibility across browsers and devices - Work closely with designers to implement intuitive, user-friendly interfaces - Contribute to end-to-end product planning and decision-making - Participate in code reviews and ensure high-quality code is delivered - Collaborate with the backend infrastructure team to ensure seamless integration - Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in frontend technologies and apply this knowledge to improve Openai's products - Develop and maintain automated tests to ensure the stability and reliability of the application

## What We Are Looking For - 5+ years of professional experience building production web applications at scale - Fluency in TypeScript/JavaScript, React, and modern web tooling - Strong understanding of design principles, including design fidelity, performance, and accessibility - Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems - Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail - Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams - Experience with testing frameworks and automated testing - Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and technologies

## Nice to Have - Experience as a founder or early engineer at a startup, with a proven track record of building products from scratch - Familiarity with Openai's products and technologies - Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and deployment - Knowledge of machine learning and data science concepts
