Product Lead, AI/ML

About the Role

As a key member of the Note Quality group, the Product Lead will be responsible for owning the models that power documentation, the evaluation systems that measure quality at scale, and the specialty and workflow engines that ensure output matches clinical practices across diverse settings. What You Will Do

• Drive AI product strategy and execution within Note Generation, focusing on delivering the most accurate and clinically useful notes.
• Partner closely with engineering, ML, design, clinical leaders, and specialty councils to set the bar for note quality and contribute to the model and evaluation roadmap.
• Help build a world-class note quality evaluation system that incorporates human annotation, LLM judges, automated backtesting, and in-production analytics.
• Collaborate with ML and engineering teams to establish reliable benchmarks, ensure continuous validation, and facilitate fast iteration cycles.
• Drive depth across specialties and clinical contexts, ensuring that specialty notes reflect clinical expectations, use the right terminology, and match professional norms.
• Own specialty priorities within the assigned area and partner with clinical leaders to define gold standards.
• Cross-functional execution with engineering, ML, design, and customer-facing teams to align on architecture, model iteration schedules, evaluation methodologies, and system reliability.
• Translate real-world feedback into the model development loop to continually improve product performance.
• Operate with a high bar for quality, speed, and accountability, contributing to Abridge's mission to set industry standards for responsible AI deployment in healthcare.

What We Are Looking For

• 5 to 8 years of product management experience with significant ownership of ML-powered products or platform systems.
• Deep understanding of how to measure and improve model quality, including evaluation frameworks, annotation pipelines, and benchmark design.
• Strong technical fluency across ML, data pipelines, and distributed systems, with the ability to communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working closely with ML researchers and engineers to drive impact in production environments.
• Ability to balance long-term architectural investments with short-term delivery needs, prioritizing tasks effectively to meet business objectives.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a proven track record of working effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Passion for improving healthcare outcomes and a commitment to the responsible development and deployment of AI in clinical settings.

Nice to Have

• Experience with healthcare technology, particularly in areas related to clinical documentation and medical AI.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards in healthcare, such as HIPAA and those related to AI-driven medical devices.
