## About the Role As a Product Manager for API and Platform at Descript, you will be at the helm of building and owning the platform that enables automated video editing at scale. This is a unique opportunity to create APIs that allow developers to programmatically import media, run AI-powered edits, and export content, thereby turning Descript's powerful editing capabilities into infrastructure that media businesses can depend on. The role entails close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including the Agentic AI team, to influence the development of editing capabilities and their exposure through the API.

The day-to-day responsibilities will involve working closely with various stakeholders to understand their needs and develop solutions that meet those needs. Given the cutting-edge nature of Descript's technology, you will be venturing into new territory, figuring out ambiguous problem spaces, and creating the playbook for success in a rapidly evolving industry.

## What You Will Do - Own the API and developer experience that lets teams create content workflows at scale - Launch integrations that unlock new use cases, such as MCP wrappers, no-code workflow platforms, and strategic partner integrations - Work closely with the Agentic AI team to influence what editing capabilities are built and how they're exposed through the API - Define and grow this business line by shaping positioning, pricing, and go-to-market strategy with Sales and Marketing teams - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align product vision with company goals - Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the competitive landscape and market trends - Create and execute product roadmaps that align with business objectives - Analyze data and customer feedback to inform product decisions - Communicate product plans, progress, and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders - Foster a culture of innovation and experimentation within the product team

## What We Are Looking For - 5 or more years of product management experience shipping internal APIs, developer platforms, and foundational systems that enable other teams - Proven track record of building products from scratch and taking them from 0 to 1 - Experience in doing customer discovery and defining features that solve real problems - Strong understanding of programmatic and technical aspects of product development - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders - Excellent communication and project management skills - Experience working with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, and marketing - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions

## Nice to Have - Experience in the digital media or video editing industry - Knowledge of AI and machine learning technologies - Experience with no-code workflow platforms and strategic partner integrations - Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructures and scalability - Certification in product management or a related field
