Job Description

About the Role

The Product Manager position at Verse is a critical component in the company's efforts to revolutionize energy management through its real-time control platform. This platform is designed to dispatch distributed battery fleets to maximize revenue across energy markets, and the successful candidate will be responsible for the operational backbone of this system. The role involves working across two key pods: Fleet Telemetry & Control, and Site-to-Cloud Integration, ensuring seamless communication between software and hardware components.

The Product Manager will be at the forefront of developing solutions that address the intricate challenges of managing complex power portfolios. This involves unifying energy data, planning, forecasting, and operations into a single, cohesive platform. As part of the Verse team, the Product Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and energy experts, to drive the development of the company's Energy Cost Intelligence platform, Aria.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and execute the product roadmap for energy storage controls and telemetry, aligning with the company's overall strategy and goals.
  • Collaborate with the Fleet Telemetry & Control pod to integrate devices, develop real-time site controllers, and implement OEM protocol translation and local safety logic.
  • Work closely with the Site-to-Cloud Integration pod to design and implement the communication, configuration, and dispatch infrastructure connecting edge devices to cloud optimization.
  • Manage Modbus device mapping across multiple OEMs, including Tesla, Sungrow, and Fluence.
  • Develop and implement site-local control loops for export limits, demand management, and solar ITC compliance.
  • Design and optimize telemetry ingestion pipelines and alarm management systems.
  • Ensure config synchronization and develop the dispatch path that translates cloud-optimized schedules into real-time battery commands.
  • Foster strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including engineering, data science, and product teams, to drive product development and resolve technical issues.
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to stay informed about industry trends and advancements in energy storage and telemetry.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for product features and functionalities.

What We Are Looking For

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in product management, with a focus on energy storage, controls, and telemetry, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of energy markets, grid operations, and distributed energy resources.
  • Experience with device integration, real-time systems, and cloud-based platforms.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and develop actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, computer science, or energy systems.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with energy storage systems, including battery management systems and power conversion systems.
  • Knowledge of industry protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, and IEC 61850.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based platforms such as AWS or Azure.

  • Certification in product management or a related field.
