About the Role

The Product Manager, Search and Embeddings, plays a critical role in driving the direction of Cohere's technology. This involves working on core models, APIs, and end-to-end products that serve enterprises and developers. The focus of this role is on the application of generative AI in Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) and Agents, with a deep understanding of how search and embeddings enable these technologies.

As a key member of the product management team, you will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define strategic priorities and roadmaps for improving retrieval model performance. This requires a strong understanding of customer needs, market trends, and the competitive landscape.

What You Will Do

  • Define and execute the product strategy for search and embeddings, aligning with Cohere's overall mission and goals.
  • Work closely with machine learning engineers to ensure the development of state-of-the-art models and products.
  • Collaborate with the go-to-market team to drive successful product launches and customer adoption.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of customer needs, leveraging data and customer engagements to guide product development.
  • Drive the evaluation of search performance across all products and models, identifying areas for improvement and optimizing for better outcomes.
  • Manage and prioritize the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs.
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and internal teams.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in AI, search, and embeddings, applying this knowledge to enhance Cohere's products and services.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to solve complex problems and drive business outcomes.

What We Are Looking For

  • At least 4+ years of product management experience, with a focus on search, embeddings, or related technologies.
  • Proven experience working on search products and embedding/reranking models, with a deep understanding of their applications and limitations.
  • A Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field, with a strong foundation in algorithms, large-scale systems, and statistics.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and execution skills, with the ability to guide cross-functional teams and drive product vision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a technical environment with cross-functional teams, driving product development and launch.
  • A strong understanding of the AI landscape, including trends, technologies, and competitors.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based platforms and technologies, such as AWS or Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and tools, such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Experience with data analytics and visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI.
