The Professional Services Engineer role is critical to Gitlab's success, as it requires a deep understanding of the company's products and services, as well as the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. You will be expected to be proactive, adaptable, and results-driven, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality results and driving customer satisfaction. ## What You Will Do - Engage with customers to provide installation, migration, training, and advisory services - Handle installations ranging from single-node Omnibus installs to large reference architectures utilizing IaC/CaC - Develop and implement migration plans for customer VCS & data migration - Provide technical training sessions remotely and/or on-site - Create and maintain documentation for implementation, guides, maintenance, and other relevant customer requirements - Manage the creation of new and/or maintenance of existing artifacts and templates for deliverables and training - Contribute to the extension and maintenance of documentation/scripts for implementation and workflow - Document opportunities to help customers achieve their vision more effectively and efficiently - Communicate opportunities to the customer project and account team - Support engagement managers on quoting and scoping of SOWs - Document and implement improvements for Professional Services engagement processes ## What We Are Looking For - Professional exposure with one or more IaC/CaC technologies (Terraform, Ansible, Packer, Puppet, Chef) - Professional exposure with one or more cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) - Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, sufficient for success in a remote and largely asynchronous work environment - Strong understanding of DevSecOps and software development principles - Experience with customer-facing roles, preferably in a professional services or consulting environment - Strong communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills - Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git) ## Nice to Have - Experience with Gitlab products and services - Knowledge of cybersecurity and compliance principles - Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ruby) - Certification in relevant technologies (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) - Experience with project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Jira, Asana) ## Benefits and Perks - Competitive salary and benefits package - Opportunity to work with a high-performance culture-driven team - Collaborative and dynamic work environment - Professional development and growth opportunities - Flexible working hours and remote work arrangements - Access to cutting-edge technologies and tools - Comprehensive health and wellness programs - Generous paid time off and holidays - Stock options and equity participation
