About the Role
The Program Manager, Foundations Data and Operations role at Openai is a critical position that entails leading programs to acquire training data for the development of frontier AI models. This involves working closely with researchers to define data requirements, designing and managing acquisition workflows, and establishing processes to execute them at scale. What You Will Do
- Lead programs to acquire training data for AI model development, working closely with researchers to define requirements and priorities.
- Design and manage data acquisition workflows, ensuring data quality, timelines, and scalability.
- Establish and maintain metrics for data quality, throughput, efficiency, and overall program performance.
- Identify gaps in the data ecosystem and drive initiatives to strengthen data acquisition and creation capabilities.
- Translate research objectives into clear technical requirements and operational plans.
- Lead vendor and partner engagements for data sourcing, including evaluating suppliers, negotiating agreements, and managing delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including researchers, engineers, and business teams, to drive alignment and execution.
- Develop and maintain documentation of data acquisition processes and workflows.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments in data operations and AI research.
What We Are Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in operations, strategy, venture capital, private equity, or consulting, with at least 5 years operating within a company.
- Experience taking end-to-end ownership of large, ambiguous problems and breaking them down into clear, actionable plans.
- Direct experience engaging with executives and senior leaders to influence and drive strategic decisions.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to ask and answer critical questions and present results clearly to leaders.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with data analysis and operations, including data quality, workflow management, and metrics development.
- Passion for technology and artificial intelligence, and interest in its impact on business and society.
Nice to Have
- Experience working in the AI or technology industry, with knowledge of AI research and development.
- Familiarity with data acquisition tools and technologies, such as web crawlers and data partnerships.
- Certification in data analytics or operations, such as Certified Data Analyst (CDA) or Certified Analytics Professional (CAP).
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies, such as Agile or Scrum.
