Job Description

About the Role

The Program Officer role at Food for the Hungry Canada is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in international development. As a key member of the International Programs team, you will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of community-led initiatives in the Latin American and Caribbean region, ensuring effective delivery and lasting impact. Your day-to-day work will involve facilitating participatory program design, monitoring, and learning processes that center local voices, as well as supporting partnerships through regular communication and in-person visits.

The role requires a deep respect for the knowledge and leadership of local partners, as well as the ability to navigate the nuances of working across cultures and contexts with grace and integrity. You will be working closely with global colleagues and local partners to advance faith-driven, community-centered approaches to development.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee a portfolio of international program partnerships for the LAC region, ensuring effective delivery and lasting impact
  • Facilitate participatory program design, monitoring, and learning processes that center local voices
  • Support partnerships through regular communication and in-person visits, ensuring clarity, accountability, and shared learning
  • Oversee program quality and compliance, including financial planning, performance monitoring, and reporting
  • Support grants and donor relations, providing relevant data and impact stories to engage institutional and private donors
  • Foster collaboration and learning, contributing to inter-partner knowledge exchange and thought leadership
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local partners, donors, and other stakeholders
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in international development
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and implement strategies for program growth and development
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity-building support to local partners
  • Contribute to the development of reports, proposals, and other materials as needed

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in international development, humanitarian response, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in international development or humanitarian relief, managing or supporting program implementation
  • Proven knowledge and experience with results-based management, MEAL systems, and one or more technical areas such as gender equality or food security
  • Experience with Canadian charitable regulations and GAC-funded programming is considered an asset
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish, with proven ability to navigate the nuances of working across cultures and contexts
  • Detail-oriented and data-savvy, with the ability to synthesize both quantitative and qualitative information
  • Alignment with and commitment to Food for the Hungry Canada's mission and values
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of accountability and responsibility

  • Master's degree in international development, humanitarian response, or a related field
