About the Role
The Public Affairs Manager role at Stripe is a unique opportunity to develop and execute global public affairs strategies that drive the company's policy and business objectives. As a key member of the Government Affairs and Public Affairs team, you will work closely with regional leads to adapt global narratives and campaigns for local markets, ensuring that Stripe's message resonates with diverse audiences. You will also engage with policymakers, industry groups, and partner organizations to advance the company's interests and stay ahead of the curve in a rapidly evolving regulatory environment.The team's mission is to help Stripe understand and adapt to the changing global policy landscape, anticipate and respond to challenges, and advocate for the needs of its users and the online economy. As a Public Affairs Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping the company's public affairs strategy, working closely with Policy Development, Legal, Communications, Marketing, and regional product and go-to-market teams to ensure coordinated, consistent engagement worldwide.
What You Will Do
- Support the development and execution of global public affairs strategies that advance Stripe's policy and business objectives
- Coordinate with regional Government Affairs, Policy Development, Communications, and Marketing leads to adapt global narratives and campaigns for local markets
- Execute external engagement activities, including outreach to policymakers, industry groups, and partner organizations, under senior direction
- Draft and maintain clear messaging, briefing materials, talking points, and short-form collateral for internal and external audiences
- Support the management of stakeholder relationships, including trade associations, think tanks, NGOs, and partner companies, and maintain stakeholder tracking
- Help organize events and convenings that bring Stripe leaders, users, and partners into policy conversations
- Support measurement and reporting of global public affairs activities and contribute to team processes and project management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and effective communication of public affairs strategies
- Stay up-to-date on policy developments and trends that may impact Stripe's business and operations
What We Are Looking For
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in public policy, public affairs, government relations, communications, advocacy, or related fields
- Demonstrated experience executing political or advocacy campaigns, building coalitions, coordinating stakeholders, and managing events
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills, including experience producing clear briefings and short-form messaging
- Interest in and basic understanding of policy, government affairs, and the tech or payments ecosystem
- Comfortable working with cross-functional partners and in an international environment
- Proven collaborator who is resourceful, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to travel 25% for meetings and events
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
Nice to Have
- Professional experience and existing relationships within the US and European policy ecosystem
- Experience supporting global or multi-jurisdictional public affairs work, including adapting and deploying global messaging and playbooks for local audiences
- Background or advocacy in areas related to Stripe's business, such as fintech, payments, or digital commerce
- Familiarity with project management tools and software
- Experience with data analysis and reporting
