Job Description

About the Role

The Quality Assurance Manager at North Pacific Seafoods oversees the entirety of the quality assurance program at one of the company's seafood processing plants. This critical role involves acting as the plant's HACCP Team Coordinator, taking the lead in preparing and implementing the site's HACCP Plans to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and food safety standards. The role's significance extends beyond the plant, as it directly impacts the company's reputation for quality and its ability to meet customer demands.

Day-to-day, the Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of the quality assurance program, directing the activities of the site's HACCP Team, and ensuring that plant operations adhere to the company's and site's operations manuals. This includes maintaining the site QMS program and quality benchmarks, acting as a liaison with internal managers and regulatory agencies on food safety and quality issues, and collaborating with other departments to address any quality-related concerns.

The Quality Assurance Manager reports to senior management and works closely with production, sanitation, and maintenance teams to ensure that all operations are conducted in a manner that meets or exceeds quality and safety standards.

What You Will Do

  • Perform and manage all functions of the quality assurance program.
  • Direct all activities of the site's HACCP Team(s).
  • Ensure plant operations adhere to the company's and site's operations manuals.
  • Maintain the site QMS program and quality benchmarks.
  • Act as plant liaison with internal managers and regulatory agencies on food safety and quality issues.
  • Collaborate with other departments to address quality-related concerns.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and customer specifications.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.

What We Are Looking For

  • 3-5 years of food industry experience in manufacturing or distribution.
  • Food processing or food science training.
  • HACCP certification is preferred.
  • BRC certification experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and food safety regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in seafood processing is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards for seafood processing.
  • Previous experience with quality assurance software and systems.
