Job Description

About the Role

The Quantity Surveyor will play a pivotal role within the @one Alliance, acting as the commercial conscience to the integrated delivery team. This role entails providing commercial support to both delivery management and on-site delivery teams, ensuring operations are carried out with controlled costs, maximized value, minimized future liabilities, and maintaining the required standard of quality and safety. The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Commercial Manager and be part of a collaborative organization that values diverse perspectives and talents.

The @one Alliance is gearing up for its most exciting and challenging Asset Management Period yet, known as AMP 8. This period will see the delivery of a programme of work larger than ever before, with a focus on driving change and empowering the workforce for enhanced growth and development. As part of this effort, the Quantity Surveyor will be integral in ensuring that commercial and cost management processes remain industry-leading.

What You Will Do

  • Manage all aspects of commercial and cost management for designated projects or a group of projects.
  • Ensure robust cost management processes are undertaken with accurate and timely reports, data, and analysis to assist in commercial decisions.
  • Collaborate with the Delivery Team to identify, implement, and monitor efficiency plans throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee the full compliance with the Alliance and Anglian Water governance procedures on a consistent basis.
  • Work closely with project team members to ensure understanding of contractual arrangements, satisfying Client & Partner organisation requirements.
  • Ensure proper records, including final accounts, are kept and maintained for financial information and audits.
  • Provide commercial support to both the delivery management and on-site delivery teams.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Analyze project data to identify trends and areas for improvement in cost management and commercial processes.
  • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders to drive commercial excellence.

What We Are Looking For

  • Extensive experience in managing costs, preferably in a construction or engineering environment.
  • A Degree (or equivalent) in an engineering, management, or cost discipline, though not essential.
  • Passion and desire to pursue a career in Commercial Management.
  • First-class customer service and leadership skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction and safety.
  • Ability to challenge processes, practices, and norms to improve the commercial offering.
  • Experience with Excel and ability to adjust to new systems and tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment and build strong relationships.
  • Experience in managing and analyzing data to inform commercial decisions.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a water industry or similar sector.
  • Knowledge of asset management principles and practices.
  • Certification in a relevant field, such as quantity surveying or commercial management.
  • Experience with project management software and tools.
  • A strong understanding of governance procedures and compliance.
