About the Role

The Quantity Surveyor role at Gradiant is a critical component of the company's project management team, responsible for cost control and measurement for water and wastewater treatment projects. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and communication skills to ensure seamless collaboration with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams. As a key member of the team, the Quantity Surveyor will play a vital role in driving project success and contributing to Gradiant's mission of reducing water usage and renewing wastewater into freshwater.

The day-to-day responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor will involve preparing detailed cost estimates and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for projects, conducting cost planning, feasibility studies, and budget forecasting. The successful candidate will also be responsible for monitoring project expenditures and ensuring alignment with approved budgets, as well as performing cost value reconciliation (CVR) and cash flow forecasting. Strong analytical and negotiation skills are essential in this role, as the Quantity Surveyor will need to evaluate variations, claims, and change orders, and support dispute resolution and risk mitigation processes.

What You Will Do

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for projects
  • Conduct cost planning, feasibility studies, and budget forecasting
  • Monitor project expenditures and ensure alignment with approved budgets
  • Perform cost value reconciliation (CVR) and cash flow forecasting
  • Evaluate variations, claims, and change orders
  • Support dispute resolution and risk mitigation processes
  • Administer contracts in accordance with NEC, FIDIC, or other applicable forms
  • Manage subcontract procurement, negotiation, and appointment
  • Assess and process interim valuations and payment certificates
  • Prepare monthly cost reports and financial summaries for senior management
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities across projects
  • Maintain accurate cost records and documentation for audit purposes

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying or related field
  • 4-7 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably within water treatment, utilities, or infrastructure sectors
  • Experience working with NEC, FIDIC, or similar contract forms
  • Experience in EPC or design-build project environments
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • High attention to detail and commercial awareness
  • Membership or working toward chartership (e.g., RICS or equivalent professional body)

  • Experience working with digital tools and software, such as project management and cost estimation platforms
