About the Role
The Quantum Research Scientist role at Mindrift is a freelance, project-based position that involves contributing to AI projects for leading tech companies. As a researcher with expertise in Python and physics, you will design and develop computational physics problems that simulate real physics research workflows. Your work will be crucial in testing, evaluating, and improving AI systems.In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on diverse projects that require creative thinking and problem-solving skills. What You Will Do
- Design original computational physics problems that simulate real physics research workflows
- Create problems that require Python programming to solve using libraries such as Numpy, SciPy, and Sympy
- Ensure problems are computationally intensive and cannot be solved manually within reasonable timeframes
- Develop problems that require non-trivial reasoning chains in mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics
- Base problems on real research challenges or practical applications from physics practice
- Verify solutions using Python with standard physics simulation libraries
- Document problem statements clearly and provide verified correct answers
- Collaborate with other researchers and developers to design and develop AI systems
- Test and evaluate AI systems to ensure they meet the required standards
- Participate in project meetings and discussions to ensure effective communication and collaboration
What We Are Looking For
- Degree in Physics (Theoretical, Experimental, or Computational) or related fields
- Python proficiency for numerical validation
- Experience with numerical simulation methods
- Ability to design problems that mirror real physics research workflows
- Creative thinking in problem design across diverse physics areas
- Familiarity with physics modeling and approximation techniques
- Strong written English skills (C1+)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with project-based work and flexible work arrangements
Nice to Have
- Experience with MATLAB, R, C, SQL, or other programming languages
- Knowledge of domain-specific libraries and tools
- Experience with AI and machine learning
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies
- Certification in programming or physics
