## About the Role As a Recruiter, AI/ML Research at Openai, you will play a critical role in identifying, engaging, and recruiting top AI/ML research talent from around the world. You will work closely with Openai's research staff to define hiring priorities, shape search strategies, and anticipate future talent needs. This is not a traditional recruiting role, but rather a strategic partnership that will help shape the future of Openai's research organization. The research team at Openai is pushing the boundaries of what is possible with artificial intelligence, and this role is an opportunity to be a part of that mission. You will be responsible for building relationships with research leaders and emerging talent in the field, and for developing a deep understanding of the technical and strategic needs of the organization. You will be working with a team of experienced recruiters and researchers who are passionate about their work and committed to making a positive impact on the world. ## What You Will Do - Partner with research staff to define hiring priorities and shape search strategies - Identify and cultivate exceptional AI/ML research talent across industry, academia, and emerging labs - Use market insights and candidate signals to influence hiring decisions, leveling, and compensation strategy - Serve as a trusted advisor throughout candidate evaluation and closing - Collaborate closely with sourcing partners to execute complex, high-impact searches - Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the AI/ML research landscape and the technical needs of the organization - Build and maintain relationships with research leaders and emerging talent in the field - Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and advancements in AI/ML research - Participate in strategic planning and recruitment strategy development - Analyze recruitment data and metrics to inform future recruitment strategies - Develop and maintain a network of research contacts and potential candidates ## What We Are Looking For - Significant experience recruiting within highly technical or specialized environments - Deep interest in AI research and a desire to engage directly with global research communities - Experience recruiting within highly technical or specialized environments such as ML/AI, distributed systems, infrastructure, scientific computing, or quantitative research - Track record of leading complex, ambiguous technical searches from early talent mapping through close - Experience navigating high-stakes negotiations with senior technical or research candidates - Comfort operating in fast-moving environments where hiring priorities and role definitions may evolve over time - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to work in a hybrid work model with 3 days in the office and optional work from home on Thursdays and Fridays - Experience with recruitment tools and software, such as Adjust and Excel ## Nice to Have - Experience working in a research or academic environment - Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or C++ - Experience with data analysis and metrics-driven recruitment strategies - Familiarity with the AI/ML research community and key players in the field - Experience with diversity and inclusion initiatives in recruitment ## Benefits and Perks - Competitive salary and benefits package - Opportunity to work with a team of experienced researchers and recruiters - Hybrid work model with 3 days in the office and optional work from home on Thursdays and Fridays - Relocation assistance for new employees - Access to cutting-edge technology and tools - Professional development opportunities and training - Collaborative and dynamic work environment - Three in-house prepared meals daily and well-stocked kitchens - Outdoor space for working and socializing - Wellness rooms and private bike storage
