About the Role
Openai is seeking a talented Recruiting Manager to lead its Applied AI Engineering teams. This critical role requires a strategic leader who can mentor and inspire a team of recruiters and sourcers to attract exceptional technical talent. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting the recruiting strategy, optimizing operational processes, and ensuring a seamless candidate experience.As a key member of the recruiting team, the Recruiting Manager will partner with organization leaders to design and execute comprehensive hiring strategies that align with Openai's growth and long-term technical ambitions. This involves developing lasting relationships with key technical leaders, hiring managers, and external partners to position Openai as the employer of choice for top-tier talent.
The Recruiting Manager will report to the head of recruiting for engineering, product, design, data science teams, and more. The role is based in Openai's Mission Bay, San Francisco office, with a hybrid work model that includes three days in the office and optional work from home on Thursdays and Fridays.
What You Will Do
- Lead and inspire a high-performing technical recruiting team to achieve hiring goals and objectives.
- Develop and execute comprehensive hiring strategies that align with Openai's growth and long-term technical ambitions.
- Partner with organization leaders to design and execute recruitment plans for key technical roles.
- Mentor and support recruiters and sourcers in developing relationship management techniques and fostering an environment of innovation and collaboration.
- Develop lasting relationships with key technical leaders, hiring managers, and external partners to position Openai as the employer of choice for top-tier talent.
- Elevate the candidate experience at every touchpoint, reflecting Openai's values and technical rigor.
- Leverage data to optimize recruiting efforts, making informed, strategic adjustments to improve efficiency, quality, and team performance.
- Champion Openai's commitment to building a diverse and inclusive workforce by implementing strategies that attract talent from underrepresented communities.
- Collaborate with the recruiting team to develop and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified candidates for key technical roles.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in technical recruiting, applying this knowledge to continuously improve recruitment strategies and processes.
What We Are Looking For
- 15+ years of recruiting experience, with at least 7+ years in a management role.
- Strong background in technical recruiting for engineering and machine learning roles.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a team of recruiting professionals in a high-stakes, fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build deep relationships with both internal stakeholders and external talent in highly specialized fields.
- Strategic and analytical mindset, with the ability to approach recruiting with a strategic lens and use data and market insights to shape decisions.
- Technical acumen, with a strong understanding of the technical landscape and the ability to engage credibly with both candidates and hiring managers.
- Commitment to driving diversity in hiring, ensuring that Openai continues to attract talent from all backgrounds.
- Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work in a hybrid work environment, with a mix of in-office and remote work.
