About the Role
As a Recycling Sorter at Cascades, you will be at the core of the company's operations, directly impacting the efficiency and effectiveness of the recycling process. Your day-to-day tasks will involve the meticulous sorting, grading, and placement of recycled materials into their appropriate areas, adhering to specified requirements and production standards. This role is not just about manual labor; it requires a keen eye for detail, the ability to work well under pressure, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and quality.The recycling industry is constantly evolving, with new technologies and methods being implemented to improve the recycling process. As such, the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and to continuously learn and improve is crucial. What You Will Do
- Safely and efficiently sort, grade, and place recycled materials in their appropriate areas according to specified requirements and production standards.
- Comply with all company policies and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Complete all daily housekeeping duties as directed by supervisors to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Perform other duties as laid out by the Lead Sorter and/or Supervisors, including yard/plant cleanup and office paper sorting.
- Adapt to an always-changing and growing industry, embracing new challenges and opportunities for improvement.
- Grade and sort bulk loads of loose materials, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborate with the team to achieve production goals and maintain high standards of quality.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
What We Are Looking For
- Ability to cross-train and grow within the role and the company.
- Good hand and eye coordination, with the ability to stand throughout the whole shift.
- Normal plant work with seasonal exposure to hot and cold temperatures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on safety and quality.
- Previous experience in a similar role or industry is an asset but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field is an asset.

- Experience with material handling equipment or machinery.
- Knowledge of recycling processes and procedures.
- Certification in a related field, such as environmental science or waste management.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills, depending on the location and team requirements.
